i think for a while, i will wander from my general path, and come to current affairs, that make me laugh in despair more than anything else. but even they have a meaning, one which most usually fail to grasp. this is the reason why lifes most important lessons are missed by human the first and even second time. now, for those who are Indians, and especially the british, the recent controversy might not be news. The supposed racial abuse of an Indian actress by the name of Shilpa shetty, by three other brit women, jade goody, a reality tv star, danielle spenser, a model and jo o'meara, a yesteryears singer is actually something that brings out an interesting side of racialism. now, not many in India have seen the show. what the news channels air here every day is selective footage that would make you believe that the only thing Ms shetty was doing on CBB or celebrity big brother, was cry and be tortured. apparently, a lot of furore is being created in india. the furore reached its peak, when the gorverments got involved, with the IBM being asked to look into this matter and confront the UK government regarding the same. Blair, with probably Iraq or something else that mattered to the lives or more than 4 wannabe celebrities, hadnt seen the show when confronted about it, but said he condemned racsism.

i think most know the juicy details of this drama. for the indians who dont but still feel that they should cry out and condemn, i genuinely request that they try catching this show on you tube. the fact is that there are a at least three different raced people, or even four, who do support shetty, and after a few moments it is visibly clear that the tension between the above mentioned women has little to do with race and more to do with insecurity. use your head people, the main instigator, Jade goody is a reality tv star, and has in past questioned if Rio di Janeirio was a person. i wonder what Brazilians had to say to that. i dont what would have happened had a brazilian been on that show. this is the tactic most wannabe celebrities use. knowing that there is little in them that people would find admirable, they create personas that can only be detested. Paris Hilton made millions and became one of the most documented celebrity on the planet doing this. call hjer stupid, untalented ( as she rarely shows any talent)... who do you think the joke got played on? the people who stupidly watch and then malign about these so called dim wits. they might not be good... but then have proven that people dont exactly value good. it was when goddy entered that people started picking on shilpa. the three girls to jibe at her, but it is widely known that she has refused to exactly get down and dirty with them.

when they call her names and try to pull her down, they arent trying to be racial. i mean, theres Jerome Jackson there too, isnt it? they are only trying to catch her nerve and hit it there. now , however sad or whatever it sounds, sub consciously people do separate races. it does not mean that they will treat the person of other race badly, but then their treatment at some level does become special. all thye indians who scream against rascism, how many of them would deny honestly that foriegners arent treated differently here. i think the point i am trying to make here is amply clear if you see the hollywood movie Crash, which starts many stars including sandra bullock and terence howard. unable to incite a controversial remark from Shilpa, it is likely that gody went for the only thing she thought would affect her.

while rascism is wrong, i think this instance not only exposed the insecurity and ackwardness of this matter in britain but also in india. we need to know that every comment aimed at a person of a different race isnt racsist. also, race isnt the be all and end all of conflict. conflicts are usually power plays and race is just one of the 'nerves', that one hits on in an attempt to somehow get some reaction from him. had it been a man woman tiff, the nature of the commets would have changed entirely. we all claim to live in a secular world. a tolerant world that has come to understand and accept the differences between each other rather than use them as a point of contention for power plays. the whole political drama is a bit embarrassing. i mean, does it really take three stupid and insecure females in a reality show of all the places ( i mean they are there to create drama!), to put the governments of two nations in action? or does it take a still touchy topic to do so.

i think this instance does provide everyone with huge opportunities. it has given politicians opportunity to leverage themselves, made the four women in question ( aka the victim and victimisers), global super stars over night. it has made the previously weel known show in the UK now fomaous world wide and increased their viewership by millions. i think its but fair that the people who sponsor this drama, that is the people who watch it, who search it on searcg engines, or who blog about it to use the opportunity to truly understand something thats clearly still an issue after so many years of harping by so many great leaders of this planet. by the way, the one movie i found that probably has the best take on racsism is CRASH. watch it. also, all i want to say is that now that so many tele and news bytes, not to mention time has been dedicated (ahem), to this drama, people at least open their eyes to the true nature of the race, gender, cultural and national differences.
i think anyone who has observed them will agree that at the end of the day, all of these are power plays where in one individual tries to overpower the other. race, sex, nationality, economic status or even simple things like your choices in music and life are just the weapons used.

i hope that if nothing, the truth comes out of such drama. otherwise, they are really useless money making endevours, a wave which every one wants to ride.
